    A fundamental tenet of Buddhism is anatta, no self, and that includes the mind. Enlightenment is only realised by letting go of any identification with thought or mind (or anything else). In the Dvedhavitakka Sutta the Buddha uses his pre-enlightenment attachment to his own thinking to illustrate how it leads to delusion.
