Street Art #10 – Martin Whatson


There is something about Norwegian born artist Martin Whatson’s art that is magical and playful. When I see the colourful artwork against the usually starkly drab backgrounds it invokes a sense of wonder reminiscent of childhood whimsy. Martin uses a combination of stencil and spray paint to form his art. The colourful additions of the spray paint really set of the art and make it unique.



Martin searches for beauty in places that others would not, he has a special interest in positioning his art on decaying walls, old buildings and urban landscapes. His interest in decay offsets his colourful works and helps him make a statement of unity and conflict at the same time. For more of Martin’s work go to
